Podríamos pensar que la sangre menstrual, como cualquier otro componente orgánico es apto para nutrir nuestras plantas ya que los elementos químicos de este residuo contienen agua, células muertas del endometrio, lípidos, proteínas, hormonas como la progesterona y ¡Células Madre! que vienen acompañadas de nutrientes y minerales indispensables para el crecimiento y desarrollo de las plantas, como lo son el Nitrógeno, el Fosforo y el Potasio; N P K.
Pero a pesar de ellos también contienen contaminantes como los parabenos y las benzofenomas, procedentes de los cosméticos que utilizamos y nuestro estilo de vida. Es importante saber que la sangre menstrual es específica de cada mujer y que dependiendo los hábitos alimenticios, de consumo, e inclusive la genética, afectan directamente en los niveles de componentes de la sangre.
Probablemente encuentres información que te asegure que es bueno aplicar la sangre menstrual ya que contiene Nitrógeno Fosforo y Potasio, Y si bien es cierto que los contienen, la realidad es que estos tres elementos; aunque se encuentren presentes en el medio, no están en un estado químico que les permita ser asimilables para las plantas. el nitrógeno de la sangre se encuentra en las proteínas y de esta forma la planta no puede asimilarlo para que el nitrógeno llegase a su forma nítrica (la orgánica, la que sí aprovecha una planta) se necesitaría un proceso de descomposición el cual no se desarrollará en nuestra planta
Al regar con nuestra sangre menstrual lo único que provocaríamos es crear un “caldo” de cultivo para microbios potencialmente peligrosos que puedan contener patógenos infecciosos transmitidos por este fluido. Tampoco olvides que la sangre contiene hemoglobina y por lo tanto, hierro. Lo cual este elemento podría no ser conveniente según nuestro tipo de planta.
En un sentido de querer “normalizar” este tema “tabú” o de pretender ser “eco-friendly” muchas veces caemos en la desinformación y llegamos a pensar que lo que creemos esta por encima de lo que en realidad es, recuerda que no todas las “buenas intenciones” o lo que pensamos que es “amigable” con el medio ambiente; lo es. Al día de hoy no existe ninguna investigación o estudio científico que respalde el uso de la sangre menstrual para las plantas así que por favor ¡NO LA USES! Evitemos la contaminación de los suelos o la generación de residuos contaminantes en nuestras cosechas. Existen otras alternativas de abono orgánico con mayor efectividad y en ausencia de elementos contaminantes, unas opciones adecuadas son las compostas y lombricompostas.
